Capitol Lighting had been running retail price-point advertising. Creative Director Jeff Griffith proposed trying wit and empathy. We wrote a long anthem about the company and headlines like these kept popping up. The client took a gamble and sales doubled the first year.

CD Jeff Griffith did the headline and I followed up with text. These home systems go for $40K and up. The media buy was stalled when the company's staff was called away to Abu Dhabi to build a 200-seat home theater. The campaign results-- like UFOs-- remain unknown.

Buying high-involvement (expensive) items is more comforting when you feel empowered with knowledge. And who needs empowerment more than a groom to be?

CD Tom Pratt and I had a blast working on Jaguar for Ross Sutherland at Y&R. Here we wanted to pair The British artist Ralph Steadman with the idea of a Jaguar for the common man, which is what the Ford people needed to do with their "baby jag" the X type.
